What is Avelo?
Avelo replaces the traditional air-based buoyancy with water-based buoyancy. As it turns out, air is highly reactive to pressure, so the Avelo system uses water to generate changes in buoyancy. The system offers industry-changing benefits: the first is that it is much lighter, and the second is that it offers a larger buoyancy zone for the diver to move about without having to make any adjustments to the scuba equipment.

Jetpack
The Avelo Jetpack is the lightweight control center of the system. It features a sturdy backplate, harness, and a high-pressure battery-powered pump that lets you add or remove water from the Hydrotank with a single button press for effortless buoyancy control.
Hydrotank
The Avelo Hydrotank is a revolutionary lightweight COPV — a carbon overwrapped pressurized vessel. It replaces the traditional BCD and weight belt, using water instead of air for buoyancy, delivering superior stability and a dramatically lighter setup.
Re-chargeable Battery
The rechargeable battery fully recharges in just 40 minutes. It can be quickly swapped or removed for charging and uses the same proven technology as cave diving lights. A green indicator light confirms it is ready to dive.

At the surface, the Hydrotank is positively buoyant — you float effortlessly.
To descend, simply press a button on the Jetpack. The pump draws water from the ocean into the Hydrotank, adding weight and compressing the breathing gas bladder for perfect neutral buoyancy.
Once set, your buoyancy remains stable throughout the dive — no constant inflating or deflating like a traditional BCD.
On ascent or at the surface, release the water to regain positive buoyancy.
The Avelo System consists of two main components: the innovative Hydrotank (a carbon fiber and aluminum tank with a flexible internal gas bladder) and the Jetpack (backplate, harness, high-pressure battery-powered pump).
